NEW: NORWAY IN WINTER - WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2013

RESULTS FROM A PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP IN THE HULA VALLEY

I was leading a Workshop with nine Nature Photographers from several European countries and Israel in November in the Hula-Valley, Northern Israel in November. Some of my results can be seen here. More photographs from the participants will follow soon. 

 

NORWAY IN JULY 2011

MASS DIE-OFF OF BIRDS IN THE US - INTERVIEW WITH IAN NEWTON   <!--StartFragment-->5000 dead birds were discovered  on New Year’s Day in the small town of Beebe, Arkansas. This and similar finds from other places in the United States and Europe triggered a heated debate about the causes. Read an interview with Ian Newton, the author of the reference book on the ecology of migrating birds here. <!--EndFragment-->

NEW EAGLES IN THE HULA VALLEY AUTUMN 2010

  I spent the first two weeks of November in the Hula-Valley in Northern Israel for raptor-photography. See my report here

BEMPTON CLIFFS

In early summer I spent a few days photographing birds at Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire, East England. An excellent place in right weather circumstances with several thousands of Gannets, Guillemots, Razorbills, Fulmars and Kittiwakes breeding. Among them about 900 Puffins breed in the cliffs.  NEW PICTURES FROM ISRAEL - SPRING VISIT 2010 

I spent nearly four weeks in Israel from March to April for bird-potography. An exceptional winter with substantial rainfalls was followed by an exceptional spring with many rare and irregular larks showing up. View the pictures here.

 

PLASTICS AND BIRDS - SHOCKING PICTURES FROM AN ALBATROSS COLONY

Pollution caused by Plastics is much discussed these days but the by far most drastic and shocking pictures showing the consequences of excessive plastics production to birdlife were taken by US-photographer Chris Jordan in September 2009 on the remote Atoll of Midway in the Northern Pacific. Pictures that appeal to all of us to avoid use of plastics wherever possible. Thanks to Chris for allowing me to put the link to his Gallery Message from the Gyre.
